About Svatobor
The Mixed choir Svatobor is based in Susice, a town situated in southwest Bohemia on the Otava river. It was founded in 1860 and originally named Saint Wenceslas Choir. In 1921 it was renamed to Svatobor.
The choir sings European folk songs as well as secular and spiritual compositions by old masters and contemporary authors. Recent musical performances in historical costumes included "Pan Pickwick" (Mr. Pickwick) and "Divotvorny Hrnec" (a musical adapted from Finian's Rainbow) They have been great success.
Mrs. Svatava Cizkova co-operates with the choir as a choreographer. Since 1976 the choir performed in nearly 600 competitions, concerts, festivals and tours abroad, all conducted by Mr. Josef Baierl.
